M.O.P.S.

Do you own at least 1 Wiggles video?  Know the words to Dora the Explorer’s theme song?  Have an endless supply of McDonald’s Happy Meal toys?  Find Cheerios and pacifiers in your purse or coat pocket?  If you answered yes to even one of these questions then you should go to a MOPS meeting - pronto!

What is MOPS?
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is an International Organization whose purpose is to nurture every mother of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ. MOPS provides a caring, accepting atmosphere for moms of children ages 0-6 years old.

What happens at a MOPS meeting?
Imagine a place where you can go to have your needs met.  Every meeting begins with a warm, homemade breakfast.  While eating you can fellowship with other moms just like yourself.  You can discuss potty training tips, bemoan the lack of sleep you are getting, or just share your week.  The  formal meeting may begin with a devotion, parenting articles, or a poem/story that is being circulated via email.  Speakers discuss relevant topics such as marriage, parenting, discipline, and spiritual and/or personal growth. After the speaker talks you are able to discuss the topic and share your thoughts with your discussion group. On alternate meeting days you will have the opportunity to explore your creative side, through easy, fun and functional crafts.

What does MOPS provide for my children?

As you enjoy your meeting, the children enjoy our MOPPETS program which includes a full nursery for younger children, and a time of crafts, speakers/demonstrators, teaching and playtime for the older children.

When does MOPS meet at RiverTree?
RiverTree MOPS meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:15 to 11:15.  Our first meeting is on September 19, and we will run through the 3rd Tuesday in May.

Is there a cost?
There is a one-time $20 registration fee that we in turn pay to MOPS International.  This fee will register you with MOPS International and entitles you to many free items as well as a year subscription to the MomSense magazine.

We have dues of $5.00 per meeting, payable by semester.  It will be $35.00 for the first semester (September through December), and $40.00 for the second semester (January through May).  This payment includes 2 hours of childcare, craft supplies, speakers, and food.

We are excited to be able to bring MOPS to RiverTree Community Church for a second year.  Please come join us this year as we enjoy "Fresh Air:  What Every Mom Needs."

If you have any questions, or would like to request an registration form please contact the church office.  Pre-registration is not required but is appreciated, and lets us better prepare for you and your child or children.
