Location & Age Groups: The RiverKids Pre-School Classrooms are located in the classroom wing on the East side of the building. The Pre-school ministry is broken up into 2 main departments:
- Young Pre-School: 2 ½ - 3 yrs
- Pre-School: 4 yrs – Yg 5s (not yet in K)
Each department is broken up into 2 rooms for check-in/out, buddy groups, and activity station but come together for large group time. *Please note that promotion to the ‘next room’ happens 3-4 times per year. Following your child's birthday, he or she will remain in his or her current classroom until the next promotion Sunday. You will be notified of these if your child is moving classrooms.
Curriculum: RiverKids Pre-School curriculum focuses on teaching basic Bible stories and basic Bible truths. Children begin their time with purposeful activity stations that begin to introduce the story and theme for the day. During the service they also participate in a large group time of singing, hearing the Bible story presented in a creative way, and interacting with the puppet. Following large group, they join about 5 or 6 other children and an adult leader for Buddy Group. These small groups review the story together and begin to help the children apply the Bible lesson using a story and activity page.
The Next Step: Each week children leave with a home page that tells the Bible story of the day as 
well as the Big Idea. We encourage parents to reinforce Sunday’s lesson by reviewing the Bible passage during the following week. One very easy way to do this is by purchasing the FamilyTime Bible Storybook published by Gospel Light. This Pre-school Bible goes directly along with the RK Pre-School program. These are available for $10 from the RK info cart in the main lobby.
