Location & Age Groups: The RiverKids School-Aged Classrooms are located in the classroom wing on the East side of the building. The School-Aged ministry is broken up into 2 main departments:
- Younger Elementary: K – 2nd Grade
- Upper Elementary: 3rd-5th Grade
The Younger Elementary do check into several rooms based on grade but come together for large group time. *RiverKids School Aged students are promoted to the next age group in the FALL.
Curriculum: RiverKids School-Aged programs mirror the excitement, energy, and enthusiasm of RiverTree’s “Big Church,” geared to a child’s age level. Students begin their time with activity stations to build community and connect with their small group leaders and each other. They then participate in large group (2 separate large groups: K-2nd & 3rd-5th) where they have a time of worship through music and learning. In large group, the Bible is taught in a relevant and creative way that engages and involves the children. The objectives of “Know What” and “So What” are met during Large Group. Following large group, students break into small groups of 7-10 kids and an adult leader who meet to answer the objective question, “Now What?” Through a game, craft, discussion, or the like, each group gets practical in helping the students apply the lesson they just learned. These groups also help build community and relationships.
The Next Step: Each week children leave with a home page that tells the Bible story of the day, key concept, and an at home question(s) for the family. We encourage parents to use this sheet to reinforce the lesson learned.
